Offshore captains and mates give people the best days of their lives. When they get hurt on the water, there is no safety net waiting for them. The Casting for Care Classic exists to change that.

Filmed at the inaugural Casting for Care Classic at Crocodile Bay Resort on Costa Rica's Osa Peninsula in June 2026. Anglers, families, and crews came together for four days of inshore and offshore fishing, all to fund support for injured fishermen, captains, and mates: hospital bills, rehabilitation, prosthetics, and income support while they cannot work.

Casting for Care provides direct help to offshore fishing crews injured at sea, from the docks of Florida to Cape Verde, the Maldives, and Costa Rica. Together, there is a world of difference we can make.

CBS 12 News covered Casting for Care in its Hometown Hero segment, following founder Jim Lucas and the work behind the organization.

As the station put it: Jim Lucas started Casting for Care to help cover medical costs, home modifications, mobility equipment, and other expenses for injured fishermen.
