Calm open ocean under a pale blue sky.

Accessibility

Built to be used by everyone.

What this site does to stay usable, and how to tell us when it does not.

Casting for Care aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA across this site. Where something falls short, we want to hear about it and fix it.

What this site does

  • Keyboard. Every link, button and form field is reachable and operable with a keyboard alone, in the order the page reads. A skip link is the first focusable element, and focus is always visible.
  • Screen readers. Pages use real landmarks, one heading per level with no skipped ranks, labelled form fields, alternative text on images, and live regions for messages that appear after an action.
  • Reduced motion. If your system asks for reduced motion, the animated reveals and the scroll-linked effects are switched off. Nothing is hidden as a result: content simply arrives in place.
  • Contrast. The colour palette is contrast-checked in both the light and dark themes. Body text clears 4.5:1 against its background, and interface boundaries clear 3:1.
  • Targets and text. Interactive controls are at least 44 by 44 pixels, form fields are set at 16 pixels so mobile browsers do not zoom, and layouts hold up at 200% zoom without horizontal scrolling.
  • No tracking. There is no analytics, no advertising, and no third-party script running on page load. The only outside resource a page requests is the web font. The video on the news page loads from YouTube only after you press play.

Known limits

This site is a design concept rather than the live charity site. The financial assistance form on the contact page is a layout demonstration: it does not submit anywhere, and it says so when you use it. Applications are handled by email.

Tell us about a problem

If any part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, contact us and describe what happened, the page you were on, and the assistive technology you use. We will reply and work with you to get you the information you need another way.
